Geotechnical Drilling Valrico Marsh Geotechnical Drilling
Believe it or not, but geotechnical drilling companies sometimes get contracted to go out to remote areas that are complicated by water. These can be areas like off the shore from land, in a river or a lake, or in specific types of terrain such as a marsh or a swamp. When performing geotechnical drilling, Valrico drilling professionals will often say that wetlands such as swamps and marshes are some of the hardest areas to drill into because of all the complications. Water is not hard on the drills or the drill operator, but it can be uncertain in knowing what lies below the surface and what problems it can cause.
Dealing with Water
Water does not affect the efficiency of a drill or break them as you might think, but it does cause problems for those who are performing geotechnical drilling. Valrico drill operators cannot see what conditions are like below the surface of the water. Often times they can’t determine what geological formations look like until they start the drilling process. Some areas under the water may be easy to drill through because it is just loos dirt and sediments, but other areas can be rocky or have unseen previous that are hard to detect.
Half Water, Half Land
Marshes are difficult to perform geotechnical drilling in because many areas you think are land are actually plant matter floating on top of water. Unlike swamps that have a lot of trees and water to deal with, Marshes have smaller plants and grasses that can often disguise its formation. Even though it is covered with water and plants, it is often pretty easy to drill into once a drill have broken the surface of the ground. With geotechnical drilling, Valrico drilling companies might be performing some sort of sample collecting or testing, or they could be gathering information for a future building project.
