Geotechnical drilling professionals may find themselves drilling into bodies of water for testing and for structure construction, and the state of Florida is one of the most popular areas of the country where this could happen. Many people are not aware of how much effort goes into marine drilling, or even that it is something that is done on a regular basis.

Even in inland areas of central Florida, it is still possible to see drilling companies performing marine drilling. Orlando residents should be made aware that they may be in a location that will need the skills and services of a professional drilling company in order to get something constructed on their property.

Construction Over a Body of Inland Water

Even though central Florida is not known for its ocean views, there are still many areas of the region that have bodies of water, and this includes lakes and rivers. Many people live on these bodies of water, or live near them enough where they can participate in recreational water activities with the right ramp or building in place.

When it comes to inland marine drilling, Orlando residents should know that many people can only cross or have access to these bodies of water with the right buildings. For people who are traveling over rivers with their car, a bridge needs to be constructed first. This bridge may need to have a sturdy foundation in the water or close to it, which is only possible with marine drilling.

Not too many people cross lakes on their commute, but if you want to have a boat for fishing on that lake or want a structure like a dock or pier to sit on, it needs to be secured at the bottom of the lake with some sort of foundational drilling.

Well Construction in Central Florida

Although this is not something that is thought of much as marine drilling in the traditional sense of the matter, well construction is quite common throughout most regions in the state of Florida. 

The idea of getting a well installed on a piece of property is to dig a hole deep enough to have access to groundwater. The deeper that a drilling professional has to go in the ground, the higher chance of there being water in the soil and sediments that are present, and dealing with groundwater can be a little challenge just like traditional marine drilling. Orlando residents should know that not just anyone can drill a hole in their backyard, and companies have to obtain licensing to do so.

It is also just as important to know that if someone has a well on their property that they are no longer using, it is state law to have it sealed up by a professional who knows what they are doing, to avoid contamination of the water supply.
