Environmental Drilling Orlando Drilling Environments When Working in Central Florida

Large states are known for having vastly different climates and geological conditions in different areas, and this includes the state of Florida. Even central Florida will have more geological conditions present than some states around the country.

Taking note of what geological conditions are like at a location is very important to a professional geotechnical drilling company, and will often take samples of an area before performing any type of environmental drilling. Orlando drilling professionals will run into some pretty common environmental conditions that need to be drilled into, but they are not uniform and can vary from location to location.

Here are some of the drilling environments that professionals will have to work in when they are out drilling in central Florida.

Sand Dunes of Central Florida

There are many areas of central Florida that have ancient sand dunes that are still present today. This area is known as the Lake Wales Ridge, and it is a geological formation that goes through many of the countries in central Florida.

Although there are many inland areas of Florida that have sandy soils present, this area of central Florida is more sandy than usual, and may look like a beach with lots of foliage. Drilling in sandy soils is not always easy when professionals are called out to perform environmental drilling. Orlando professionals will have to use special drilling equipment to make their job easier when drilling in these ancient dunes.

This area of the Lake Wales Ridge also has some of the highest land elevation throughout the state, although not by much considering how flat Florida has a reputation for being.

Coastal Areas of Central Florida

Florida is a peninsula which means it is surrounded by ocean water on three of its sides. There are large communities and cities that are stationed in the coastal areas of central Florida, and they have some different drilling conditions and issues that may become an issue when performing environmental drilling. Orlando residents should know that coastal areas are often at a lower elevation level than inland areas.

Areas that are closer to sea level will have a higher chance of containing groundwater than the deeper professional drill, which can be a problem depending on what task a geotechnical drilling company is trying to perform.
