Soil Testing Brandon

Brandon, Florida

One of the less popular services that is offered by a professional geotechnical drilling company is known as soil testing. Brandon residents might be under the impression that drilling professionals are only really concerned with gaining access to a specific area underground, but this is not always the main goal. Soil testing is important to many industries that need to know about different types of sediments or minerals that are present. For example, a farmer may want to know what the state of land is like because they are trying to figure out if they can successfully plant crops for the next season.

Drilling Equipment Used Before Soil Testing

Collecting a sample at a location is not as easy as someone going out with a shovel and a small container and scooping some dirt into it to look at later. Before soil testing, Brandon’s professionals first have to collect multiple samples by using the right equipment. Depending on soil conditions, this could be done with a solid stem auger, a mud rotary drill bit, or maybe with a traditional boring hole. Most of the time, when geotechnical drilling professionals are collecting samples for soil testing, they have to go so many feet before they are comfortable taking a sample.

Having the Samples Analyzed

Once drilling professionals have enough samples to accurately determine what it is composed of and what minerals remain. This type of information is very important to specific industries, but this can only be done once samples are collected and sent to be analyzed as part of soil testing. Brandon residents should know that many times geotechnical drilling companies do not have the equipment or skill set to accurately test the samples that they collect. And end up sending the samples collected to professionals that can. Once these professionals have looked into the samples collected during drilling, they are able to provide a report of what was in the samples that were collected.
